Stephen Boulton brings clients over twenty-five years of experience in trial, arbitration, administrative and appellate forums spanning a wide variety of fields, including corporate and commercial litigation, securities, employment, probate and real estate. His trial experience includes first chair in civil jury and bench trials in state and federal courts, first chair in emergency injunction proceedings, first chair in securities arbitration, and first chair before a variety of Illinois administrative agencies. Additionally, his appellate experience includes lead attorney in appeals before the Illinois Supreme Court, the Seventh Circuit and Sixth Circuit federal Courts of Appeal, and Illinois Appellate Court.
Mr. Boulton's experience is noteworthy for its breadth in commercial and corporate litigation. This experience includes first chair in civil suits involving breach of contract, breach of commercial lease, shareholder litigation, post-employment covenant disputes, injunctive relief, debtor-creditor litigation, real property disputes, probate disputes, trust litigation, copyright disputes, eminent domain proceedings, and employment discrimination cases. He has extensive experience in securities litigation matters, including first chair in court and arbitration proceedings representing broker-dealers and other financial institutions.
Steve's practice is buttressed by his wide experience in transactional matters. These include commercial contracts, employment contracts, stock purchase, asset purchase, joint venture, leasing and venture capital agreements, wills and trust agreements, as well as corporate takeover transactions. His knowledge of the deeper patterns of American law is augmented by experience in state and federal white collar criminal defense, election law, divorce proceedings involving multi-million dollar estates.
